The band is really looking forward to this weekend.  First we are bringing the Soul to Riley's Pour House in Carnegie this Friday evening at 8 PM.  This is one of our all time favorite venues with a  great vibe and friendly people.  Then on Saturday night we return to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Verona.  This is a private Club but the ladies are welcome with no cover charge.  Hope to see you this weekend.

Riley's Pour House Presents the Soul Merchants Friday May 18th at 8 PM

Once again we are honored to perform at one of our favorite venues, Riley's Pour House in Carnegie.  See - http://www.rileyspourhouse.com/

Our good friends, Jim and Cheryl Riley combined their talents and experience to produce the vision they had for Riley's Pour House.
Jim and Cheryl have had plenty of success throughout their careers to make them exceptionally qualified to carry on the rich history of the popular Pour House of Carnegie, PA and to take it to greater heights.

For the past 33 years, Jim and his late brother Mike, successfully led another Carnegie business institution, All Pro Painters, Inc. Along with Jim’s years of managing professional tradesmen, he worked as a #2 chef throughout his high school and college years at several area dining establishments.

However, to make him truly qualified to lead Carnegie’s famous Pour House to great success, one accomplishment of Jim’s stands above all the rest. Over the past 30+ years, Jim has organized all the seasonal business and family (one of 8 very hard to please Irish American siblings) functions .

Throughout her 26 years with US Airways, Cheryl organized many social events for management and team members, providing food and beverages as well as entertainment.  Cheryl enjoys cooking and that passion, along with keeping a spotless kitchen, enables her to serve 30-300 dinner guests with delicious food and plenty of compliments.

For the past five years, Cheryl has coordinated the food and beverage catering activities of the annual St. Patrick’s Day Party for the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division #32/Ladies AOH Carnegie. Jim is a long time AOH 32 member.

And so it is this combination of talent and vision that the Carnegie Pour House was restored to the authentic classic Irish pub of its origins.

It's A Hockey Night In Pittsburgh

These days living in Pittsburgh is awesome if you are a hockey fan.   We have been blessed with some of the best players and owners of any team in the league.  Of course, the Pens just eliminated the Flyer's and are on their way to win a third consecutive Stanley Cup.

Here is a Penguins fight song the Soul Merchants wrote  a few years back during the 2009 championship run.  Go Pens!

2018 Blues Challenge

Vocalist Jae Marie and 1/2 of the Soul Merchants joined up with bluesman James Hamel to participate in the 14th annual Blues Challenge on Saturday April 21st.  There were lots of great acts and a fantastic appreciative crowd.  We all had a fun time meeting old and new friends and musicians.       Unfortunately we did not win the competition (possibly too much Soul for a Blues competition) but a great experience regardless.

Where's My Chicken

Where's My Chicken
Soul Merchants
2009

Where's my chicken?
my mashed potatoes
my hot gravy
and my greens?
come home to find you
watching Oprah
your hair a mess
in dirty jeans
could use a little help
making ends meet
buying food and
paying the rent
but you're so lazy
it drives me crazy
my patience has been spent

I work all day
for little pay
while you sleep
the whole damn day away
so when I get home
I want to know
Where's My Chicken?

where's my chicken
and my gravy
my collard greens
and homemade bread?
come home to find you
Oh, so lazy
Spend the whole day in bed
could use a little help
doing house work
mow some grass
or mop the floor
but you do nothin’
and I’ll tell you something
gonna kick your butt
right out the door

I work all day for little pay
while you sleep the whole damn day away
so when I get home I want to know..
Where's My Chicken?

(C-H-I-C-K-E-N)

Don't give me no pork
Don't give me no fish
you know that's a nasty dish
Don't want no beef
Don't want no veal
you know how that makes me feel
All I want is some chicken

I'll eat it fried
or barbecued
anyway old way will do
I'll like it baked
make no mistake
I'll even eat it Cordon Bleu
All I want is some chicken

I'll have a leg
Give me a breast
Two of each would be best
I like KFC
I love Chik-fil-a
Chicken always make my day
Just gimme some chicken *
